adminPresenting the cheques to the beneficiaries at Abuja, the Minister of Science and Technology, Professor Ita Okon Bassey Ewa, urged recipients to make the most of the fund.
“I challenge all the beneficiaries here to work towards further creativity, inventions and innovations, using this grant, as this forms the critical factor in national development, economic growth and global competitiveness,” he said.
Ekpo Cletus, who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries, pledged the science and technology innovators’ commitment to enhancing economic growth.
“Nigeria has the capability to challenge China in less than five years,” he said.
He called on the Bank of Industry in Nigeria to offer more assistance to the sector.
More than 100 inventors and innovators have so far benefited from the grant across six geo-political zones since 2005.
Ewa said collaborations among stakeholders such as the Education Trust Fund, the Petroleum Technology Development Fund among others would assist in achieving the ultimate goal of providing a solid foundation for technological breakthroughs in the country. — CAJ News.
