UPCOMING rapper, Mos Groovie — who is based in Germany — says he didn’t expect his decision to quit football for music would pay off so quickly.
Born Delvin Marara, the rapper was one of the recipients of the Zimbabwe Achievers Awards recently held in the UK.
The 26-year-old bagged the Newcomer of The Year gong.
The awards have been held annually in the UK since 2010.
It does not only recognise musicians, but also those who excel in numerous sectors including business, art, sports and entertainment.
“I’m very honoured and grateful to everyone who has been supporting my passion for music and this award has injected more energy into me and my camp.
“My dream is to make a name in the Hip Hop community, I’m not planning to only make a name in Zimbabwe but to also make a mark internationally,” he said.
Mos Groovie told H-Metro that he turned down offers from German clubs that had shown keen interest in signing him as a footballer.
Mos Groovie grew up in Highfield and is a product of Highfield Academy, which was established by Onias Kadewere, the late father of Tino.
He was playing for lower league clubs in Germany while doing his tertiary studies.
“I have no regret in abandoning my football career, many doubted my decision but I think I have done well to make them realise what this means to me.
“I’m very passionate about music and I know it’s now a matter of time before my musical career hits the desired heights,” he said.
