Moses Mpofu, director of Synlak (Private) Limited, has been denied bail on fraud allegations involving a biogas project worth US$415 290.
Mpofu is jointly charged with his company Synlak (Pvt) Ltd, his wife Nobukhosi Mpofu, and Vusimuzi James Mpofu.
Regional Magistrate Ms Marehwanazvo Gofa denied him bail, citing Mpofu’s failure to provide a plausible defence.
Mpofu and his co-defendants were remanded to June 25 pending the finalisation of investigations.
Nobukhosi and Vusimuzi were each granted bail of US$800 on May 9.
The case stems from a tender for the City of Harare’s Mbare Biogas Project, funded by a €350 500 grant from the European Union.
