A 48-YEAR-OLD Burma Valley man has been hauled before the courts on attempted rape charges after he was allegedly caught trying to rape a girl (9).

Rasai Zvinaiye Nyatsanza appeared before Mutare magistrate, Ms Perseverance Makala, who denied him bail.

Prosecuting, Ms Tinotenda Muzondo said on June 13, Nyatsanza lured the victim into his bedroom.

“While in the bedroom, Nyatsanza covered the victim with blankets before joining her in bed. He was disturbed by the victim’s mother who suddenly arrived and peeped through the window,” said Ms Muzondo.

The girl’s mother made a police report, leading to Nyatsanza’s arrest.

Ms Makala adjourned the matter to September 26 for trial.
