A Harare woman left the Harare Civil Court all smiles after her application for a peace order against her two sons for calling her a prostitute was granted.
Ropafadzo Muzvimbi said her first and second born sons, Enock and Leonard, have been tormenting her and she no longer wanted them to continue staying at her house.
She told magistrate Tamara Chibindi that her sons emotionally and verbally abuse her.
“Leonard spits on me and pokes me. He insults me in front of other children using obscenities.
“He says I should not bend when l am sweeping because I will be sexually harassing him and he takes the money which people pay as a token of appreciation for drawing water from my borehole.”
She said Enock insults her and calls her a prostitute and witch.
“He even claims l am a dull person and when I am sweeping, he steps on my broom and tells me to go back to my parents’ house, saying my house now belongs to him since he is the first born,” she said.
In response, the two sons did not oppose the application, but claimed it was based on lies.
“I can see she no longer wants me at her house and l don’t mind if l am evicted,” said Leonard.
While Enock said:
“I have never assaulted her, but she and my brothers are the ones who assault me. I am a Christian, and assaulting elders is forbidden.”
Magistrate Chibindi ordered Leonard and Enock neither to insult nor assault their mother.
