A WOMAN from Waterfalls suburb in Harare has successfully secured a protection order against her son’s girlfriend, who she accused of forcefully occupying her house and subjecting her to insults and threats.
Ivy Madzamba told Harare Civil Court magistrate Johanna Mukwesha that Jane Amadi moved into her home without permission, claiming the right to stay because of her relationship with Madzamba’s son.
“She is living in my house without my consent. When my son is away, she brings boyfriends into the home. I cannot tolerate this under my roof,” Madzamba said.
She told the court that the property belongs to her, not her son, and no child or relationship could override her ownership.
Despite repeated attempts to have Amadi leave, the woman insisted that her child with Madzamba’s son gave her the right to stay.
Madzamba also accused Amadi of insulting her and blaming her for her son’s alleged neglect of the eight-month-old baby.
Amadi, in turn, insisted she was the victim, denying all allegations of misconduct.
“I am not leaving that house. I have a baby with her son, and I am his partner. All these accusations about boyfriends are false. She just doesn’t want me around,” she said.
Amadi claimed to have lived in the house for two years without ever being unfaithful.
The court sided with Madzamba, granting a protection order barring Amadi from insulting, assaulting, or harassing her and ordered her to vacate the premises.
