MOTOR Action Sports Club proprietor, Elizabeth “Liz” Rosen, lost cash and valuables to three armed robbers on Boxing Day.

The robbers broke into the Highlands home of the 72-year-old Liz and got away with cash and property worth US$3 750.

The robbers reportedly promised to return on New Year’s Day.

Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the robbery.

“Police are investigating an armed robbery case where victims that included a teenager were terrorised on Boxing Day,” said Insp Chakanza.

“On December 26 at around 1.45am, the 16-year-old was on the phone in his bedroom while his brother aged 18 years and grandmother were sleeping in their separate bedrooms.

“The accused jumped over the precast wall, broke the kitchen window, cut the burglar bars and gained entry into the house.

“The teenager heard some unusual movements in the corridor and opened the door to check what was happening.

“He spotted three men standing next to the door. One of them stabbed him once just above the left eye with a knife.

“The other accused was holding a metal bar, while the other was armed with an unidentified pistol.

“The accused pointed the firearm at the teenager and ordered him to remain quiet before they force-marched him to his grandmother’s bedroom.

“The other two accused went out and came back holding the teenager’s brother. The three demanded cash, threatening to kill them if they didn’t give them any money,” said Insp Chakanza.

The robbers then ransacked Liz’s bedroom and opened the safe where they took an envelope containing US$1 200.

They went into the teenager’s bedroom and took three pairs of shoes, five cellphones, a Huawei P40 Lite, Samsung A362, Samsung A70, Samsung A72 and a Samsung A12.

They disappeared into the night, but threatened to return for more loot on New Year’s Day.
