Year to remember

AFTER 2022 concluded with Argentina winning the World Cup, 2023 is set to be another blockbuster year for sport.

From the Premier League to the Ashes to boxing, a su-percomputer has predicted a list of winners for the next 12 months.

And it’s bad news for Arsenal fans, if the odds provided by Betfair are anything to go by.

Despite being top of the Prem, the Gunners are tipped to be overhauled by Manchester City by the end of the sea-son.

Pep Guardiola’s side remain the heavy 2/5 favourites to lift the Premier League title.

Meanwhile, Frank Lampard is the top candidate to be the next Prem boss to leave their role.

Everton returned to action after the World Cup with a 2-1 home defeat to Wolves.

And Chelsea legend Lamps is as short as 4/9 to be the next Prem manager out of a job.

It could be all change for Tottenham, with talisman Harry Kane just 6/5 to leave the club and boss Antonio Conte 5/4 to quit in the next 12 months.

2023 is also poised to be a huge year for boxing, with a number of blockbuster fights potentially on the cards.

While Tyson Fury is set for an undisputed meeting with Oleksandr Usyk at the start of the year, the odds of him finally trading blows with Anthony Joshua are currently 11/8.

Although the Gypsy King to hang up his gloves is priced at just 4/9 after he retired briefly in 2022.

There is also hope that it will be third time lucky and Jake Paul will finally meet Tommy Fury in the ring.

After the two bitter rivals had two fights scrapped, they are 13/8 to battle it out in 2023.

In cricket Ben Stokes and his swashbuckling England Men’s Test team are 11/10 to regain the Ashes in the summer.

Australia are still priced at 5/4, but there is a real chance of Stokes’ side putting an end to their misery, especially after winning nine out of their last 10 Tests.

The series is likely to be the end of an era for English cricket, with legends Stuart Broad and Jimmy Anderson priced at 1/20 to retire after the Ashes.

While in F1 Max Verstappen is odds-on at 4/5 to lift a third World Drivers’ Championship on the bounce in 2023.

In doing so he would deny Lewis Hamilton, who is second favourite at 3/1, an eighth crown which would put him ahead of Michael Schumacher as the sole record holder. – The Sun
