MOTOR racing enthusiasts will on Saturday converge at Bulawayo Motorsport Park for the Bulawayo Motor Racing Club (BMC) combined sponsored Toyota Zimbabwe and Castrol HP Lubes Three-hour car endurance race.

There will also be also be a one-hour motorbike endurance race.

The race, the biggest and last event of the year, is expected to attract about 40 cars and 15 motorbikes.

On Wednesday over 25 racers had registered for the three-hour endurance race, while over eight entries had been received in the motorbike race.

Harare’s Shawn Whyte, who will be competing in the motorbike race, said he is looking forward to this year’s edition.

“As usual I’m looking forward to the Bulawayo one-hour race. It has been won by South Africans for the last two years, but hopefully one of us (Zimbabwean riders) can keep the trophy on home soil this year. You can bet that this one-hour race is going to be a good one,” said Whyte.

Some of the top names that have registered include Bulawayo’s duo of Philip Minnaar Jnr and William Jason Sinclair. Both drivers will be sharing a BMW E30 3.0l.

Harare’s trio of Richard Robinson, Ian Howden and Stuart Haddon will share Robinson’s turbo charged Toyota Corolla 1600cc in this year’s edition of the three-hour race.

Entry to the event is pegged at $5, while kids Under-12 will get free admission.
