A 43-year-old man from Bluffhill lost US$19 340 to three armed robbers while on his way to deliver the cash to a finance auditor in Borrowdale.

The armed robbers accosted Simon Chikosi along Harare Drive after they overtook his vehicle in their unregistered silver Mercedes-Benz as he approached Faber Road.

Two of the armed robbers came out brandishing pistols and demanded that he hands over the cash.

Chikosi surrendered his Samsung M14 cell phone and handed over four envelopes containing US$19 200, which he intended to deliver to the auditor.

One of the robbers ordered Chikosi to move to the passenger seat and he started driving towards Sunridge Shops.

As they approached the shops, the robbers turned right.

Two assailants exited the vehicle, instructing him to remain calm while they sped away in their Mercedes-Benz.

Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the incident.

“Police are investigating an armed robbery in Bluffhill. A motorist lost a total of $19 340 along Harare Drive at around 6 pm.”
