A 43-year-old woman lost US$700 to robbers on Monday when her handbag was snatched from her car while she was giving way in Harare.

Alice Gwenzi, of Epworth, was driving her car at the intersection of Harare Drive and Kirkman Road when the robbers pounced.

When she stopped to give way to the other cars, an unidentified person used an unknown object to smash the front passenger window and stole a hand bag containing the money and personal documents.

Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the case saying another victim Rudo Doka, 56, of Mabelreign, lost a cooler box containing some medicine worth US$40.

In one of the cases, the complainant parked her white Isuzu vehicle outside the gate and went inside the house to see her friend.

“When she returned she found that someone had used an unknown object to smash the front passenger window and stole a cooler box containing medicine and went away unnoticed,” said Insp Chakanza.
