Entertainment Reporter

ELEVEN-YEAR-OLD Welly charmed thousands of fans with his dancing skills as part of his father’s set at the National Sports Stadium on Monday.

He is the son of rising musician, Chief Shumba Hwenje.

They performed at President Mnangagwa’s inauguration ceremony and the younger Hwenje appeared to be the toast of the crowd.

Chief Hwenje belted out his hit song, Mai Welly, and Welly showed he was also a force to reckon with as he charmed the crowd with a performance pregnant with confidence.

The father-and-son stage combination was just awesome.

Backed by his live band, Chief Hwenje, said he was touched by the way the crowd embraced his son.

“The atmosphere was electric and I am happy that my music is making such a huge impact,” he said.

“I introduced my son as a surprise so that people could also appreciate his talent.”

The musician has had a busy schedule in the last few months during which the song ‘Mai Welly’ has peaked in popularity.
