A 24-YEAR-OLD man from Hatcliffe suburb was murdered by unknown assailants in the Harare Central Business District.
A passer-by found his body lying face upwards early yesterday morning along Simon Muzenda Street.
Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza said although details were still sketchy, the man was driving when he was murdered.
“The tragic incident unfolded in Harare’s central business district yesterday morning, with a police report coming around 6:45 am where a man was found dead along Simon Muzenda Street,” he said.
The body of the man, who cannot be named until his next of kin has been advised, was taken to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals for further forensic investigations. The man had visible wounds on the left leg suspected to have been caused by a sharp object, but reports of a missing manhood have been dismissed.
CID Homicide detectives are conducting a thorough investigation into the gruesome murder, exploring all possible leads to apprehend the killers.
Fingerprints and blood samples have already been taken and Inspector Chakanza said he awaited new developments in the case.
It has been established that the car next to the dead man belonged to the deceased.
Police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
Eyewitnesses said the man was stabbed while in his car, and bystanders claim the body was discovered under a building’s shade around 6am.
