Motorist runs over four people

A 47-YEAR-OLD motorist has been arrested for running over four pedestrians along the Ngundu-Tanganda Road in Chipinge, resulting in the death of one and injury of three people.

Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Nobert Muzondo confirmed the arrest of Mahlanganise Chiedzo of Gaza E, Chipinge, saying he was speeding when the accident happened.

Inspector Muzondo said investigations are underway.

“The driver was speeding with three passengers aboard his Honda Fit vehicle. He lost control of the car near the 243km peg, veered off the road and ran over four pedestrians. Sylvia Makuyana (34) died upon admission at Birchenough Bridge Hospital, while Chipo Mtisi, Brandon Sithole and two-months-old Kelvin Tembo sustained injuries,” he said.

Inspector Muzondo warned drivers against speeding and urged them to always exercise caution on the road.
