LONDON. — Jose Mourinho’s protracted move to Manchester United has taken another twist following his refusal to accept a deal to take over in 2017. The Portuguese manger has been strongly linked with the manager’s job at Old Trafford but so far no deal has been forthcoming. Last week, reports suggested the former Chelsea boss had been asked to take over next year, allowing Louis van Gaal to see out the final season of his contract.
Mourinho is understood to have dismissed the proposal due to his desire to return to football before the start of next season.
However the Sunday Times now claim the ex-Real Madrid and Inter Milan manager has been asked to wait until the end of the current campaign for talks about succeeding Van Gaal. — The Mirror.
