Mourners gather to bid farewell to eight road crash victims in Victoria Falls

HUNDREDS of mourners have gathered at St Josephine Bakhita Roman Catholic Church in Victoria Falls to bid farewell to eight church members who perished in last week’s horrific road accident at Deka Bridge along Deka Road in Hwange.

The bodies of the deceased arrived in Victoria Falls from Hwange on Wednesday morning.
The victims have been identified as Tizani Mbozi (51), Nyoni Getrude (62), Masuku Jane (72), Mwale Telia (52), Fungai Shumba (40), Mandinyenya Ngonidzashe (37), Thomas Muzamba (46), and four-year-old Keila Nduba.
Government has since offered state assistance to the bereaved families.

Mukwakwami, is expected to address mourners at the church service.
The accident occurred on 23rd May 2026 when the Toyota Noah they were traveling in plunged into the Deka Bridge.
