AT a time his pictures and that of his pregnant wife, Rose, have caused a lot of hullabaloo on social media and become a discussion point on various local radio stations, Warriors midfielder Kudakwashe “Nkembe” Mahachi says the self-proclaimed preachers of decency should highly consider moving with the times.
The two lovebirds, who tied the knot in Bulawayo last year June, went in front of the camera “scantily dressed” with a topless Mahachi putting on a trendy blue jean and an exposed white undergarment tightly holding his heavily pregnant wife.
His hands were on the warmth and shelter that the mother’s womb provided.
In the other picture, Rose is seen spotting a wide open pink gown, white lingerie and a matching bra, affectionately holding the exposed bun in her oven.
In the backdrop of a series of lectures about what is acceptable and improper in any given society, the ginger-haired Mahachi, a regular goal poacher when he is in the field of play, said the posting of the pictures by his wife was a way of rejoicing that this time around, he had SCORED under the SHEETS.
“Firstly, I’m not the one who posted those pictures. It was my wife who did that on her Instagram page. After all, we are happily married and by posting those pictures, it was her way of celebrating six months into pregnancy.
“I don’t care what people say about those pictures. I’m not a model but other football players have done it before. What culture and decency are people talking about? People should just move with time,” charged the former Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates midfield maestro on the other side of the phone.
The former Highlanders, Chicken Inn and Bantu Rovers player added: “I’m happily married to Rose and I can’t go around telling her what to do and what not to do. She was actually showing our blessing that has come from God. I have been through a lot and I just need to focus on playing football. I belong to an industry (football) where criticism will always come your way and as such, I’m not moved by what people are saying about the pictures. That’s background noise.”
At their wedding, Mahachi’s former Bantu Rovers team-mates Marvelous Nakamba and Teenage Hadebe were among the groomsmen.
Nakamba, who is now based in England, served as the best man to his childhood friend.
Nkembe has a running contract with Supersport United.
