Faith Moves Mountains with Pauline Matanda
“SHOUT for joy, O heavens, for the Lord has done it. Shout, you lower parts of the earth; break forth into singing, O mountains, O forest and every tree in it. For the Lord has redeemed Jacob, and He will glorify Himself in Israel.” — Isaiah 44:23
Today we celebrate the God of expectation.
He is not distant, nor is He silent; He is active, intentional and always at work.
He is the kind of God who delights in surprising His children, who exceeds what we imagine and who turns our “what ifs” into undeniable testimonies.
Scripture calls on all of creation to shout for joy — not after everything has happened, but because God has already set things in motion.
Expectation praises before the evidence appears.
Expectation is more than a feeling; it is a posture.
It is how you position your heart, mind and spirit in anticipation of what God is about to do.
It shapes how you wake up in the morning, how you pray and how you respond to life.
A person who lives with expectation carries quiet confidence, even in uncertain seasons.
They believe something good is about to happen, that God is working behind the scenes and that their story is not over.
Expectation is where faith meets possibility.
It is the bridge between what God has spoken and what you are about to see.
Faith gives you assurance, but expectation gives you anticipation.
You cannot truly say you believe God while expecting nothing.
What are you expecting from Him today?
Breakthrough, healing, restoration, open doors or a new beginning? Your expectation matters — it creates room for God to move in your life.
Life often tries to teach us to lower our expectations. Disappointment, delay and unanswered prayers can wear down our confidence. Without realising it, we begin to protect ourselves by expecting less.
We say things like “Let me not get my hopes up” or “Let me just be realistic”. But lowering your expectation is not protection — it is limitation. When you reduce expectation, you are not guarding your heart; you are shrinking your faith.
God never asked you to expect less.
He calls you to anchor your expectation in Him, not in circumstances.
The Word, in Jeremiah 29:11, reminds us that He knows the plans He has for us — plans to prosper us and not to harm us, plans to give us hope and a future. This means, even when you do not see it, God is working.
Even when you do not feel it, He is moving. Your present situation is not your final destination. There is more ahead and God is already preparing it.
Expectation must be aligned with God.
It is not about demanding that He follow our plans, but about trusting that His plans are better than ours.
Sometimes God will not meet your expectation in the way you imagined — not because He has failed but because He is doing something greater. He sees what you cannot see and He understands what you do not yet understand.
When your expectation is rooted in Him, you can trust Him even when the process looks different.
If your expectation has grown weak, it can be restored. You rebuild expectation through the Word, because God’s promises strengthen your faith. You rebuild it through prayer, because connection with Him revives your spirit. You rebuild it through praise because praise shifts your focus from problems to God’s power.
And you rebuild it by remembering what He has done before, because the same God who was faithful then is still faithful now.
God is calling you today to expect again — not based on what you see, but on who He is. He is the same yesterday, today and forever.
If He made a way before, He can do it again. If He answered before, He can answer again.
If He opened doors before, He can open them again.
So, as you move forward, choose expectation. Walk as though God is already working.
Pray as though your answer is already on the way. Praise as though it is already done.
Let your life reflect confidence that God is in control and that something greater lies ahead.
Declare within yourself: “Lord, I will not lower my faith to match my fears. I choose expectation. I trust Your plans, I believe Your promises and I stand ready for what You are about to do.”
And, as you go, remember this: The God of expectation is already at work in your life. Even now, He is moving, aligning, preparing and positioning things for your good. Stay ready, stay believing and stay expectant.
