THE Zimbabwe Defense Forces has received a consignment of diagnostic medical equipment that will augment current machines available and will be used in the health institutions of the uniformed forces.
The donation was made courtesy of Prime Health Medical Diagnostic Laboratories and was received by representatives from the Zimbabwe National Army, Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service, Air Force of Zimbabwe, Zimbabwe Republic Police and the Zimbabwe National Parks and Wildlife.
Mr Edgar Chandiwana the Chief Executive Officer for the organisation presented the equipment on the sidelines of the 13 Zimbabwe Uniformed Forces Health Services Conference that is ongoing in Bulawayo.
“Our uniformed forces represent courage, discipline, sacrifice, and an unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of our nation. Every day, they serve with dedication, often in challenging and demanding conditions. Their service deserves not only our respect and gratitude, but also our practical support,” he said.
The donation includes Hematology analysers, full blood count analysers, HumaFiA for Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) screening and wellness/fitness. They also received Tuberculosis screening machines.
“Each has been selected to meet the demands of a uniformed medical corps built for accuracy, speed, and performance under pressure.
“Readiness is not optional in any disciplined force and readiness begins with health. A soldier cannot hold the line, an airman cannot command the skies, an officer cannot enforce the law, and a correctional officer cannot maintain order, if health is left unchecked. This equipment gives your medical units the power to detect, diagnose, and intervene or act swiftly,” said Mr Chandiwana.
He said this handover is the result of disciplined coordination between Prime Health and the Zimbabwe Defence Forces family.
“It is not a closing chapter Prime Health remains committed to training, maintenance, and calibration support at every phase ahead,” he added.
He said the medics and technicians who take charge of the equipment into their care must operate it with the discipline their duty demands.
“To our uniformed forces, thank you for your trust. We do not take it lightly. May these medical diagnostic tools serve as a symbol of our respect, our gratitude, and our commitment to stand beside you in your mission. May this equipment serve the health and deployment readiness of every man and woman who wears the great Uniform of Zimbabwe,” he said.
The uniformed forces expressed gratitude over the donation by the organisation.
