Harare North legislator Cde Tongesai Mudambu (Zanu-PF) yesterday officially launched Itai Trust organisation in Hatcliffe aimed at coming up with economic empowerment strategies for people in the area. The organisation, a brainchild of Mr Godfrey Chatora, was founded in 2011.

In a speech read on his behalf by Mr Chatora, Cde Mudambu said people should take advantage of the indigenisation and economic empowerment drive.

“The concepts being proposed by Itai Trust are in line with the Government’s policy of indigenisation and economic empowerment,” he said. “It is also in line with one of the millennium goals and I urge the residence to take a lead in such programmes to help themselves through self-employment.”

Speaking at the same occasion, Mr Chatora said the organisation had a goal to develop poor communities through training.
“There is higher unemployment rate around the Hatcliffe area and we are going to train people to engage in businesses such as manufacturing of agro-based products,” he said.
