VICTORIA Falls police are holding Binga North MP Prince Madubeko Sibanda (MDC-T) over claims that he drugged and raped a 17-year-old teenager.
Sibanda handed himself over to police yesterday after the teenager filed a complaint over the alleged sex attack which left her hospitalised with a sexually-transmitted disease.
Chief Superintendent Jairos Chiwona, the Officer Commanding Victoria Falls Police, said: “We confirm receiving a rape complaint and we’re holding a man who is helping us with investigations.

“He’s likely to go to court within two days.”
Sources close to the investigation said the teenager has told police that she was given a lift by the MP who gave her a drink laced with a drug which left her “dizzy and weak” last November.

The alleged victim, who was studying at a Victoria Falls private college, almost failed to write her final O’ Level examinations after falling ill with a sexually-transmitted disease.

“She is alleging that Sibanda gave her a lift, but instead of taking her to her destination, he drove to a bushy area along Kazungula Road. The girl says she was given a drink and suddenly felt weak and dizzy.

“She claims he raped her without protection,” said a source.
After falling ill, the girl’s parents probed her and she revealed the alleged attack – but the MP, it is claimed, persuaded the teenager’s parents not to file a police report after offering them money. It remains unclear why she eventually went to the police.
