MPILO Central Hospital is set to reduce the deaths of premature babies after the institution yesterday unveiled specialised equipment sourced by President Mnangagwa from India.

The donated theatre equipment includes incubators, monitors, anaesthetic machines, ventilators and X-ray machine.

In an interview on the sidelines of the institution’s nurses and midwives graduation ceremony at Large City Hall yesterday, Mpilo Hospital Chief Executive Officer, Mr Leonard Mabandi said the institution wants to thank the President for the equipment.

He said incubators that are part of the equipment are meant to revolutionise the clinical management of babies born prematurely.

“This equipment is going to be very useful because it will improve performance. This will also help us reduce our theatre backlog because an increased number of people will be operated on at any given time compared to the past,” said Mr Mabandi.
