Mpumelelo were awarded a floating trophy by one of the organisers and sponsors of the tournament Dumisani Maphosa of CA Grant International Sports Company. Sithulile Nkala of Mpumelelo was voted captain of the tournament while her coach Silibaziso Sibanda was coach of the tournament.
Jean Mushongi was voted goal shooter of the tournament and Caroline Phiri best wing attacker.
Vusumuzi Maphosa who is also one of the directors of CA Grant International Sports Company pledged their company’s commitment to the tournament.
‘‘We are as a company committed to this tournament. The inaugural tournament was not well co-ordinated but this year it has been wonderful. Remember there was no trophy last year when Nkulumane won the tournament. We will only get bigger and better in our endeavour to produce future netball stars for the country,’’ said Vusumuzi.
His brother Dumisani echoed the same sentiments by saying they were hopping to spread the tournament to all parts of the country.
‘‘Our aim is to spread netball to all corners of the country by helping the Girl Child through sport.
We have realised that several companies channel their resources towards football thereby promoting only the Boy Child. Girls are disadvantaged because of society’s perception towards the Girl Child. So we want to make a change by promoting girls sport,’’ said Dumisani.
