SOUTH Africa-based music producer, Mr Brown, says he has learnt a lot after working with American singer, Akon.

Mr Brown, who is a singer, producer and choreographer, is credited with Makhadzi’s success.

And, working with Akon on eight tracks, is one of the major highlights of his career.

He has done eight songs for Akon at his South Africa-based studio, Mr Brown Music Records Africa. In a recent interview, Mr Brown, whose real name is Lynol Siwela, believes his work is now being appreciated globally.

He, however, believes that local artists also respect his “magic” although he is being appreciated more outside Zimbabwe.

“I have worked with many artists from the continent and overseas, including Akon, but locals would pretend as if they don’t recognise me.

“With Akon I have produced eight of his songs including Enjoy That remix, Slow Motion remix, She Knows remix featuring David Guetta and Dimitri Vegas .

“I have also done the song Cut Out Losses, featuring French Montana, I Need You Tonight featuring Zanda Zakuza, among others.”

The 33-year-old said it was a marvel working with Akon.

“I really enjoyed working with him and I can safely say he also embraces my talent as a producer.”

Mr Brown has since set up a recording studio in Zimbabwe.

“I am inviting local artists to come and record with us as we are trying to promote them.

“I will use my influence to market them beyond our borders.”

He is currently working on an amapiano album dubbed ‘Zim Amapiano Volume 1.’

He also wants to promote locals as he has done to South African artists.

To date, he has recorded with the likes of Anita Jackson, Jah Signal, Miss Daisy, Sabastian Magacha and Freeman.

He also recorded Alick Macheso’s duet featuring Makhadzi, titled ‘Shampompo,’ due for release at the end of this month.

He rose to prominence when he released the song ‘Lazaro,’ featuring Winnie Khumalo.

He has produced mucis for Master KG, Zandamaz, Zanda Zakuza, Nomcebo, Papa Penny, Kabza de Small, Cassper Nyovest, Big Zulu, Boity, Focalistic, Botswana’s Vee Mampeezy, among others.
