The inaugural pageant, organised by Fingers Modelling Agency, was held in 2009 with Keith Siamuboloka still clinging on to the title three years after he was crowned the city’s king.
In an interview, the agency’s instructor, Sarah Mpofu, said they were working on bringing back the pageant this year.
“The modelling contest is in the pipeline although we don’t have set dates when it would take place, but we are working on hosting it this time around,” said Mpofu.
She, however, could not be drawn into revealing other details pertaining to preparations for the contest.
Mpofu said as of now she had a number of commitments that include Miss Zimbabwe pageant and her acting role in theatre.
If the pageant takes place it would relieve Siamuboloka of his title which some have deemed “a personal possession”.
Male models have in the past few months complained about being sidelined and looked down upon.
They argued that Harare models were given first preference in fashion shows in Bulawayo and in the capital thereby discouraging them from taking it as a serious profession like their female counterparts.
The pageant’s success had been hindered by lack of sponsorship and support structures.
