Mr Zimbabwe deferred

been deferred indefinitely.
Claude Shambare, a member of the interim Zimbabwe National Bodybuilding Association committee said the executive that will be elected next month is now expected to come up with a new date and venue.
Kenny Murungweni, Godfrey Nyoni and Shambare were last month appointed by the Sports Commission to a three-member committee that will set the groundwork for a general meeting on November 5. Preparations had been underway to hold the Mr Zimbabwe contest at the Elephant Hills in Victoria Falls but that has now been put on ice.

“We felt that instead of holding the Mr Zimbabwe contest this weekend, it will be better to have whoever is elected on November 5 come up with new dates.
“The general meeting will be supervised by the Sports Commission and I am sure that most gyms from around Zimbabwe will have representatives. If these representatives are elected, then they can plan for the Mr Zimbabwe,” said Shambare.

The Mr Zimbabwe contest was not staged last year after the troubled association failed to find enough sponsorship.
Shambare remains hopeful that the Mr Zimbabwe will remain on course.

“I think the new date could be before the end of the next month but I do not know if the venue will remain Victor Falls.
“But for now we just have to wait for the new executive that will be ushered into office to decide on the way. As from next year it will be better to have all the smaller competitions coming up at the beginning then we

end the season with the Mr Zimbabwe which should be the big one,” said Shambare.
Meanwhile, Shambare has revealed that Merna Moore, the woman who won the bikini and fitness competition at the Mr and Ms Pro-Fitness bodybuilding will represent Zimbabwe at the world championships in Austria next month.

“It was quite good that Pro-Fitness introduced that competition and from there we managed to have Moore winning. Now she will be able to represent Zimbabwe at the world championship,” said Shambare.
Moore will leave for Austria on Saturday.
