MUTARE Sports Club take on arch-rivals Gweru Sports Club tomorrow (Saturday) in their own backyard.
The match kicks off at 3.30pm at Mutare Sports Club. The match against GSC is the first following the postponement of all week-three matches beginning of the season.
The top-flight Super-9 National Rugby League resumed last weekend after a two-month break.
MSC unfortunately failed to secure points in Bulawayo and narrowly lost 14-12 against Old Miltonians in the close encounter match, which seemed to be a repeat of the Mutare first round match where the Shumbas also narrowly edged the Bulawayo side 16-15.
The Shumbas were, however, not the only team to narrowly fail to secure points on the board.
Log leaders, Harare Sports Club had a bad day in the office and lost their first match of the season after falling 12-14 to Old Georgians in the Harare derby.
Bulawayo side, Western Panthers, humiliated GSC in their own backyard after beating the Gweru outfit 26-20, while the defending champions, Old Hararians, hammered Zvishavane Bulls 119-3 in Zvishavane.
Tomorrow’s match will, however, be interesting for the Shumbas who have never lost to GSC on their home turf.
The match will be the first of a series of three other home matches lined up consecutively against ZB, Busters and OGS respectively, so local rugby enthusiasts will be in for a treat in September.
