and may receive a 10-year ban.
The bans are expected to be handed out today when Zifa releases the latest batch of players and officials to be sanctioned as part of the Asiagate scandal.
Msiska, who is Mangwiro’s assistant, said they had no power to change anything and will just wait for the football leaders to make their move.
“We will take it from there and there is nothing we can do,” said Msiska.
“It would be very sad (if Mangwiro is banned), he is good guy, is a Christian and don’t think he would do that but we just have to wait.
“We have capable players and we have afforded to win matches with players suspended.
“We have been talking to the players affected and they are fine, as well as our coach.”
CAPS United vice-president Farai Jere on Thursday told H-Metro that they will only issue a comprehensive statement once all issues have been clarified. The Green Machine turns its focus back to the league this weekend hoping to end Gunners’ dominance over them when they clash with the former champions in a cagey assignment at Gwanzura on Sunday.
While CAPS United appear to be getting it right in the Mbada Diamonds Cup, with the latest being a 2-0 victory over Buffaloes at Gibo last weekend, it has not been the same scenario in the league as their last two matches ended in draws.
In their last league action they had a goalless draw with Monomotapa, in a game they impressed many neutrals, after having drawn 1-1 with Quelaton away. Speaking at the club’s weekly press briefing yesterday, Msiska, said they want to end Gunners’ dominance over them. In the reverse fixture, Gunners won 2-0 with Cliff Sekete and William Manondo on target.
Both players have since left Gunners. Last season, in back-to-back clashes with Chando Kupisa with Maxwell Takaendesa Jongwe in charge, CAPS United settled for a goalless draw at Lafarge in the first match before they were humiliated at home with Leonard Fiyado scoring a brace.
In that ill-fated match, which had to abandoned because of crowd trouble as angry supporters could not take it any more, Gunners could have won by a huge margin had the game gone the distance.
However, a lot has changed since then and Leonard Fiyado is now in the Green Machine dressing room while the club is pulling in one direction with everyone from the supporters, players and executive pulling in one direction.
“It is like a Cup final. Gunners always beaten us but it would be the other way round this time,” said Msiska.
“We are praying that the way we are playing in the Mbada Diamonds, we should shift that to the league and it will help us continue with a fine run in the Mbada Cup run.”
The former Warriors’ goalkeeper believes there is need to finish the season on a high note, clearly steering away from relegation and winning the remaining five matches.
CAPS United midfielder Rahman Kutsanzira, who also attended the briefing, believes it will be a tough match but insisted they were highly motivated for the showdown.
“It would be tough but we have prepared well. The guys are motivated, it will be tough but we should win,” said Kutsanzira. I am getting back to my form, I have been affected by injuries. There are still games to play and I am confident I can add more goals but it is not about me but about the team.”
CAPS United will be missing striker Shingi Kawondera, who is still out with a groin injury. A youthful Chando Kupisa lost 0-3 to Dynamos in the Mbada Cup quarterfinal at Baghad last Sunday but they have the capacity to spring surprise.
Meanwhile, CAPS United supporters will on Sunday have a clean up at Harare Central Police Station and Charge Office ranks as they continue to spread the profile of their brand.
The supporters’ club representative, John Gwatiringa, said they wanted to boost the profile of their team among the people. We want to create awareness among members of the public and our main target is to get transport sponsorship during away games.
“We also want to encourage other team’s supporters to clean the environment and it’s also a recruitment drive.
“For now we are concentrating in the CBD and in the future we will be carrying it out throughout Zimbabwe,” said Gwatiringa.
