Midlands State University honoured the legacy of former Midlands Governor, Cephas Msipa, by hosting a fundraising fun run on Saturday.
The race was held in conjunction with the CG Msipa Scholarship Trust.
“Athletes from all walks of life, including personnel from Delta Corporation, Bata Corporation, Size Enterprises, Shamwari Yemwanasikana, Mimosa Mining Company, Unki Mine, Kensi Gas, Tsebo Catering, participated in the fun run which was categorised into five, 10, 15, 20 and 42 kilometres,” MSU posted on their social media sites.
Pro-Vice Chancellor Research, Innovation and Industrialisation, Professor Grace Mugumbate, said: “I am honoured to welcome you to MSU as we celebrate the educational contributions of Dr Msipa to the university, Midlands province and Zimbabwe at large and many of you have travelled from across the country to lend importance to the occasion.
“For us, as Midlands State University, this day is as much a day for raising funds for the CG Msipa Scholarship Trust as it is a day of remembrance and respect to a man who contributed to the versy establishment of the university and helped position it on a pedestal and trajectory of development for the industrialisation of Zimbabwe on which it rests today.”
All the athletes who participated in the run received medals and a CG Msipa Scholarship Trust branded T-shirt.
