A MIDLANDS State University student, Chantel ‘Kyrene’ Mawire, wants to use her musical talent as part of a revenue line to resolve her financial challenges.
When it comes to vocal and lyrical range, Kyrene is simply brilliant.
She is currently enrolled at MSU Zvishavane Campus and is studying Development Studies.
She began her musical career in 2020, after she fell in love with an Amapiano and RnB music.
She did all the recordings at a studio in Bulawayo.
She sings in English and Ndebele and, sometimes in Shona, to try and ensure as many people as possible hear and understand her songs.
She has worked with the likes of Kidfamme and Big Dawg Sean.
“Doing music and studying is hard for a girl with a poor background but I see it as an opportunity to make a living.
“I find my lyrics from my daily life events and listening to other inspirational figures like Rihanna, Beyonce, and Nomcebo Zikode.
“I create my own content, with different instrumental flows. Some of my songs include Ride or Die, Ngatifare, and Killing Me.”
One of her fans, Londizwi Moyo, has hailed Kyrene.
“Kyrene sings with all her heart which heals people’s souls and makes them relax. She is making money out of singing and taking care of her family at home.
“She is very intelligent and hardworking since she can handle all the pressure of academics and music at the same time.”
