THE former Harare United duo of twins Patrick and Peter Mubaiwa are disappointed by the delay of their permanent resident permits and have rejoined their former club Witbank Spurs.

They applied for the documents at the beginning of the year with the hope of playing as non-foreigners.

The lack of permits has jeopardised their prospects of playing in the Absa Premiership as they were signed by newly promoted side Chippa United at the beginning of the season.

Chippa had recommended that the twins get permanent residence permits before they could join the club from Witbank Spurs.

The move has forced them to rejoin their former club.

Patrick said Chippa had advised them that they no longer had room for them as they could not take more foreigners as they had exhausted their allocation.

The Mubaiwa twins have instead been given temporary permits which are valid for two years as they await permanent residence.

Patrick told Chronicle Sport: “I have started playing for Spurs and I have featured in three games and I’m still the team captain. The team decided to rope us in as we are fighting for the championship honours. My twin brother Peter is back at training after nursing a groin injury which he sustained three weeks ago at training, hopefully he will be available on Sunday afternoon when we play a league game against Garankuwa United at Puma Rugby Stadium in Mpumalanga.”

The former Young Warriors player said he is content with playing for Spurs.

Patrick and Peter play alongside former Highlanders striker Cleopas Dube at Witbank Spurs.
