Mubure joins Squash Appeldorn of Netherlands

club called Squash Appeldorn.
Squash Appeldorn are based in Amsterdam and Mubure, who left the country on last Friday, will be based at that club until the new year.
Mubure is also hoping to play in the US Open in January next year before returning home after his sojourn in the Netherlands.
Speaking to The Herald before his departure for the Netherlands on Friday, Mubure said he was looking forward to playing squash in the European country under Squash Appeldorn.
“In the Netherlands I will be playing in Amsterdam at a club called Squash Appeldorn owned by Gertjo van der Rijt and I will also play more Dunlop PSA tournaments at Squash City in Amsterdam.
“I will also be playing at other top venues such as Squash Almere in Almere, All Squash Inn at Utrecht, Squash International Stadium in Amsterdam and at Squash Appeldorn where I will be based.
“And I’m also looking forward to play at the US Open at the beginning of January if things go well for me during my stay in the Netherlands,” Mubure said.
The 24-year-old talented player has now turned the Netherlands into his second home as he has been playing squash in that country since 2008.
At the end of April this year, Mubure left Zimbabwe for a four-month stay in the Netherlands and played squash under that country’s national coach Sjef van der Eijden.
This came after Mubure had joined the Professional Squash Association at the beginning of the year, making him one of the few locals who have embraced squash as a sport on a full-time basis.
He also became the first black Zimbabwean player to turn professional.
And during his four-month stay in the Netherlands from April to July this year, Mubure took part in more than 12 PSA Tour tournaments, winning one and reaching the quarter-finals of at least five of them.
This saw Mubure getting a world ranking of No.355 but he is determined to climb up the ladder and break into the top 100 during his latest stay in the Netherlands.
In Zimbabwe, Mubure plays under the Premier Belgravia Sports Club in Harare where he also helps top local coach Mashumba Mukumba in running a squash academy.
Mubure’s young brother Malvin plays squash under Premier Belgravia Sports Club and he is also into coaching young players at the academy based at the same club.
The academy, which was formed last year, has managed to identify and groom a number of young promising squash players during its one-year of existence.
Most of its young players are drawn from Harare’s high-density suburbs such as Kuwadzana, Budiriro, Warren Park and Dzivaresekwa.
The academy is also now the home of other promising young players from Chitungwiza, just outside Hara-re.
