ISRAEL-based Mighty Warriors striker Ruvimbo Mucherera, who joined camp for the first time on Monday, is confident that she will gel quickly with her teammates when they take on Angola in their upcoming 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Mucherera was born and raised in the United States.
She has heeded the call-up to the national team after ZIFA approached her to beef up the Mighty Warriors side seeking to punch their ticket to the Nations Cup scheduled for Morocco.
As coach Sithethelelwe “Kwinji 15” Sibanda seeks to make a statement win in Zimbabwe’s opening assignment, she has reinforced the Mighty Warriors by bringing some of the Diaspora talent, including striker Mucherera.
And Mucherera has made no secret of her eagerness to make an immediate impact should she be handed her debut against Angolans.
She is likely to make her debut against Angola and is hopeful about the prospects.
“I am excited to be here for the first time with the Mighty Warriors, and I want to see where this opportunity takes me,’’ Mucherera said.
“I am grateful for the reception I received.
“The camp is going on so well; the coaches and the players are accommodating. I look forward to do the talking in the field.
“I am happy to be here in Zimbabwe and, hopefully, moving forward with the Mighty Warriors,” she said.
The 28-year-old striker, who has played professional football in the United States and Europe, is expected to bring a wealth of experience to the team and boost Sibanda’s attacking options.
She boasts European Champions League experience with Lithuanian champions Gintra Universitetas. Mucherera also received favourable reviews during her college days, when she won several top awards.
A holder of a Doctor of Philosophy degree, Mucherera has made it her priority to contribute to the Mighty Warriors success.
