Mudariki happy with Goshawks

SABLES star, Hilton Mudariki, says they’re heading to Europe brimming with confidence.

The Goshawks concluded their Currie Cup campaign with a defeat after going down 26-16 to Valke in a close match.

“A much better performance than the last matches,” said Mudariki.

“We just lacked a bit, but I am happy we picked ourselves up after a few bad games and we head to Europe with a positive mindset,” he said

The Sables will depart for Europe today with 31 players ahead of the World Rugby Cup qualifiers that start next month in France.

The Goshawks paid the price for a slow start as they let a first-half lead slip after going down in their final match of the South African domestic competition.

In Europe they will feature in a Test match against The Netherlands as well as the World Cup Qualifiers.

Valke took an early 12-0 lead before the Sables clawed back into the game with a Liam Lakam converted try and two penalties from captain Mudariki to take a 13-12 lead into the breather.

The script was the same for the second half as the Zimbabweans started slowly and were duly punished before slotting a penalty that reduced the deficit.
