Mudzingwa burial set for Sunday

MDC-T national organising secretary Mr Nelson Chamisa said they were waiting for the arrival of Sen Mudzingwa’s son who is based in the United Kingdom.
Sen Mudzingwa who also participated in the liberation struggle was a medical doctor and served in the Zimbabwe National Army after the country attained independence and rose to the rank of Colonel.
ZNA spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Alphios Makotore yesterday said Sen Mudzingwa revoked his rank upon retirement from the force in 1994.
A church service was held on Wednesday night at his Waterfalls home in Harare.
Speaking at the service, MDC-T leader Mr Morgan Tsvangirai said the party had lost a hard working individual.
“He was hard working and was free to speak his mind. As a person with a military background he, however, had respect for authority irrespective of one’s age,” he said.
Mr Tsvangirai said Sen Mudzingwa left a void in his party and bemoaned the continuous loss of leaders in the MDC-T.
Transport, Communications and Infrastructural Development Secretary Mr Patson Mbiriri said they worked well with the deputy minister since the inception of the inclusive Government.
“When I met him we were all new to the ministry and in the first days it was difficult to get things going,” he said.
“He was one person who took the initiative and was meticulous in everything he did. He was attentive to detail. We shall miss him and his wisdom.”
Sen Mudzingwa was born on December 23, 1942 in Buhera and is survived by his son.
His wife died three years ago.
