ASSEMBLIES of God, Mufakose Assembly celebrates its Golden Jubilee on Saturday November 9.The festivities kick off at 9:00am at the Assemblies of God, Mufakose Assembly (Corner Mugodo Street and Garwe Road), in Mufakose. The theme of the 50th anniversary is “Celebrating God’s grace by honouring the past and looking into the future”. Reverend Buti Phillip Msiza of South Africa is the guest speaker.

Resident Pastor and host J.Z.S. Chintokoma gave a brief history of Mufakose Assemblies of God. According to Pastor Chintokoma, “brethren that had been saved during the then Old Highfield 1959 Crusade that was led by well-respected Reverend Nicholas Bhengu” established the assembly in January 1963.

Pastor Chintokoma said they moved from Highfield township to “the newly built township of Mufakose, then called Crowborough and started an assembly, which still exists to this day.”

He added that over the 50-year period, by God’s grace, many souls have been saved and the people’s lifestyles have been changed for the better.

“Ever since January 1963, Mufakose has never been the same. Marriages have been restored and youths continue to be helped in order for them to be better citizens, for there is nothing impossible with God. It is places like Mufakose with its multitude of challenges that gives hope to every evangelist and makes the preaching of the gospel worthwhile”, said Pastor Chintokoma.

IMG_1278 He also briefed this writer about the guest speaker, Reverend Msiza who is one of the key spiritual figures in the Assemblies of God. “Reverend Msiza is a South African evangelist who is used of God. In June 1979, he conducted a great revival in Mufakose where many people from different places and different walks of life attended. We witnessed many miracles and Mufakose was marked and never remained the same. Even now, 34 years later, Reverend Msiza is still known in Mufakose”.

Pastor Chintokoma said Reverend Msiza was back to “celebrate with the Mufakose Assemblies of God on its 50th anniversary – Golden Jubilee.”

He gave glory to the Lord God for “being so good. He has brought us this far. All the pioneers are invited to this big day”, he said.
