Mugadza has faith in Mighty Warriors

MIGHTY Warriors coach Rosemary Mugadza believes her team has the arsenal to fight for a win against Zambia in the first leg of the African Women Championships final qualifying round at Rufaro on Sunday. The Zimbabwe senior women’s soccer team have been in camp since May 12 and they have played three matches against selected boys’ sides as part of their preparations. They also played Division Two side Sprouting.

Mugadza said she wasn’t underrating the Zambians because women’s football in all countries was improving.
“We have a team of good players and we do not bank on individual players, starting from the goalkeeper to the substitutes everyone is equally good to come in and perform,” said Mugadza.

“We needed a strong side and I am happy that we have two strong sides now. We work as a team and everyone is ready.
“So far we have trained well. We have played three games against the Under-20 boys and our training has been improving with each session.

“I do not think it will be a big challenge playing She-polopolo but we know that they have improved as a nation considering that their Under-17 qualified for the World Cup in Costa Rica and they are coming here to try and qualify.

“But as the Mighty Warriors we have done enough in terms of our preparations and training and we hope that come Sunday we will prevail.”

Mugadza said their mission was to qualify for the Nations Cup finals in Namibia.
“I just hope the girls will take the morale into Sunday’s game so that we qualify for Namibia,” said Mugadza.
