Zimbabwe squad currently playing against Bangladesh, will be seeking to keep himself active while the domestic first-class season is on a winter break.
The 22-year-old made his overseas debut last year on a six-month contract with Eversley Cricket Club in Hampshire.
His new club is based in Essex and Mugava will be playing in the The Shepherd Neame Cricket League in Essex.
“I was supposed to be part of the MCC junior squad coming after the call-up from Eversley but they decided to recall their old players so I found another club because they already had a player,” said Mugava.
Traditionally Zimbabwean cricketers are off season during the winter period.
There is an option to play winter club leagues locally but no remuneration is earned there and non-centrally contracted players like Mugava join the English summer leagues where they can get experience while earning a living.
The English Cricket Board (ECB) makes multi-million annual earnings partnered by a society of well-off cricket supporters are responsible for funding such clubs while Zimbabwe’s efforts are always weighed down by financial problems.
“The money there is alright because you get paid weekly and you earn more than you do in Zimbabwe but the most important thing is the learning experience and exposure which will help my career back home,” Mugava said.
Currently Mugava has taken 48 wickets in 20 matches at an average of 29.37 in first-class cricket.
