AMAZULU caretaker coach Wilfred “Silver Fox” Mugeyi says the short break helped his side to regroup and strategise for upcoming matches starting with their away Absa Premiership match at Royal Bafokeng Stadium against another struggling side Platinum Stars on Saturday.
Platinum Stars is home to former Njube Sundowns striker, Patrick Kaunda who was signed at the beginning of the season from Satmos FC of Botswana. He however has failed to live up to expectations.
The Zimbabwean might find himself on the stands again this weekend.
“We can’t afford to lose three points again this weekend as that will put the team under severe pressure. I believe the two-week break gave us enough time to resolve our weak areas in the team. It is not easy though but we are ready for the battle,” said Mugeyi.
He said they have opted to continue with Carlington Nyadombo as the team’s captain until the end of the season.
Former Highlanders goalie Tapuwa Kapini who made some stunning saves in AmaZulu’s last league encounter against table toppers Kaizer Chiefs before succumbing to a 2-1 loss, is set to retain his starting place this weekend.
“We will continue with Kapini especially with his good goalkeeping displays and with his fine form at training. He knows Platinum as he once played for them. Hopefully that can be a plus for us,” said former Warriors striker.
