FORMER Zimbabwe Saints coach and player and now an avid golfer Ebson Sugar Muguyo won the Mbada Golf Society bi-monthly tournament that was held at the country’ oldest golf course, Bulawayo Golf Club over the weekend. Muguyo scored a gross score of 84 that saw him netting 70 as a 14 handicapper to come out tops ahead of female player Margaret Vera who grossed 90.
Vera is a 16 handicapper and that saw her netting 74 while captain Kwangwari Kwangwari whose handicap is a decent 10 netted 75 after grossing a score of 85.
Muguyo was not finished as he also won the nearest to the pin prize on hole 15 with Joseph Mushaka and Wishes Nyoni winning the closest to the pins on hole Three and Seven respectively. Michael Zhuwarara had the longest drive.
The aim of the Mbada Golf Society is to grow the game of golf and promote it within Bulawayo as a major sporting activity for young business executives. It is played twice a month and is rotated among the three golf courses in the city, Bulawayo Golf Club, Harry Allen Golf Club and Country Golf Club.
The next tournament in two weeks time will be held at Country Golf Club.
Meanwhile, Royal Harare Golf Club will hold their annual Charity Golf Day tournament on 29 June where they hope to raise about $25 000 for the underprivileged.
