PRETORIA University’s left-sided midfielder Denver Mukamba has declared war on their Absa Premiership opponents Kaizer Chiefs ahead of their match set for FNB Stadium in Johannesburg on Saturday afternoon. The newly acquired midfielder on a season’s loan from Bidvest Wits says they are not scared of mighty Amakhosi. He said they would not accord them any respect on the football pitch.
He believes this is one game they have to win at all costs and prevent their continuous downward slide.
He is quite aware of the importance of this league match to both teams and described it as the battle of David and Goliath.
Mukamba, a former Dynamos player told Chronicle Sport: “Come Saturday all will change, a game of this high magnitude strongly motivates us. Everyone in the camp wants to play and believe me the coach will have a tough time to select his first 11.”
He said the Zimbabwean factor at Kaizer Chiefs was the big incentive for all the players to want to be part of the starting line up.
Mukamba said: “The good thing about the much anticipated game is that Washington Arubi, Partson Jaure and myself will be battling it out against countrymen Willard “Salt & Vinegar” Katsande, Kingstone Nkhatha and Ovidy Karuru whom we know from club level at home and in the Warriors set up. We started our games on a low this season and this must be the beginning of better things for the team and our supporters.”
The Warriors midfielder who joined AmaTuks at the beginning of this season said he is prepared to help his team finish the league in a better position.
The real battle will be between the two coaches Stuart Baxter of Chiefs and Steve Barker of AmaTuks who are also likely to determine the outcome of the game.
Amakhosi also have Warriors striker Matthew Rusike in their books and AmaTuks have former Highlanders and Dynamos goalkeeper Tendai Tanyanyiwa as their goalkeepers’ coach.
