THE Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) has finally released Mukaro High School O-Level results after they were withheld for suspected cheating.
The Masvingo province-based school’s entire O-Level results had been nullified.
However, the results were released on Friday last week, with ZIMSEC pointing out that they were marred by several irregularities.
In a circulating WhatsApp message purporting to be from Mukaro School, the head told parents and guardians that they were shocked by the withholding of the results.
ZIMSEC public relations and communications manager, Nicolette Dhlamini, said the results were withheld due to suspected contamination.
“Mukaro High School and four other centres’ results were withheld because of suspected copying.
“However, the students received their results yesterday morning and we are still investigating some outstanding cases.
“All affected students must approach their respective schools before approaching Zimse,” she said.
She said affected students can either rewrite in June or November.
“The rumour saying that students cannot sit for exams for five years is a lie. Students can sit for their exams when they want; there is no restriction when they can rewrite their O-Levels,” said Dhlamini.
Efforts to get a comment from Mukaro High School authorities were futile, as they were said to be in a meeting.
