A SUSPECTED armed robber, who is already on remand for a string of Mukuru money transfer booth raids, on Wednesday appeared in court, accused of orchestrating the concealment of firearms allegedly used in the crimes.
Clever Chada, who is facing multiple robbery-related charges, was remanded in custody by Harare magistrate Ms Ruth Moyo on new counts of unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.
According to the State, represented by Mr Lawrence Gangarahwe, detectives from the CID Homicide Division received intelligence on November 21, 2025, suggesting that Chada had directed his wife, Erinita Chingosho, to hide the weapons linked to his alleged criminal activities.
Chada was first arrested in January this year in connection with a series of armed robberies in and around Harare.
Chingosho, who is still at large, is alleged to have passed the firearms to Tamariplace Tikiza for safekeeping.
Acting on this lead, detectives questioned Tikiza at her home on November 22.
She reportedly admitted receiving the weapons from Chingosho and disclosed that, on Chada’s instructions, she later handed them to her nephew, Shepard Maisiri, for further concealment.
Tikiza and Maisiri were arrested soon after, and during interviews they led police to Maisiri’s garden, where officers recovered a black plastic bag containing three pistols: an AUT 6.5mm, a Browning Spatene Depose, and a patented Colt.
Both suspects allegedly implicated Chada as the owner of the firearms.
The recovered weapons have since been submitted to CID Forensic Ballistics for examination as investigations continue.
