Multi-talented Royden Secondary School teacher Patience Maredza has released a seven-track gospel album titled “Vimbo Yangu”, which is already getting good airplay on some of the country’s radio stations particularly the tracks “Muneni” and “Toyambuka”.

In an interview with The Herald Entertainment, the upcoming gospel artiste said she was inspired by gospel diva Shingisai Siluma and Fungai Zvakavapano-Mashavave.

“I have always liked gospel music since I was young and as time went by, I became inspired by many gospel artistes including Amai Siluma and Fungisai.

‘’I draw my inspiration from the Word of God because the message in my music is not about self-praise or showing people that I can sing but spread the word.

“Many people always asked me how I balance my time in the studio and being a teacher at the same time but I always tell them that I do not even feel the pressure because with God anything is possible,’’ she said.

The 32-year-old musician unveils her spiritually motivated lyrical content in a comportment that makes the listener pay attention whole- heartedly as she pleads with people to humble themselves and love one another in most of her songs including “Heroes”, “Ari Mandiri”, “Toyambuka” and “Muneni”.

She has uplifted women in various ways as she is a visual artiste, teacher and scientist who has managed to prove that she is a force to reckon with in the arts industry.

Born in Buhera, the unheralded Maredza is a holder of a Bachelor of Science degree which she attained at the Women’s University of Zimbabwe. Maredza said she is sometimes likened to jazz musician Bob Nyabinde, who was once a school- teacher and musician at the same time before retiring to pursue a full-time job as a musician.
