A GOKWE woman and her son are at the centre of a witchcraft storm after they were allegedly busted in possession of a baboon skull which they were allegedly using to “bewitch” other family members. The baboon skull which other family members claimed was smeared with mystical powers was also believed to be behind a string of mysterious deaths “recorded” in the family in recent years. Alice Magama and her son only identified as Ocean both from Mateta area under Headman Mukoka are reportedly at loggerheads with other family members who are claiming the baboon skull was in fact juju used on them and also enables the two to amass wealth and realise good harvests from their maize and cotton fields.
So nasty is the fight that some of the family members had allegedly hired a sangoma to remove the baboon skull but to no avail.
According to a source close to the Magama family, things took an ugly turn two weeks ago when one of the family members started suffering from a mental illness.
It is reported that during a family gathering, two family members gathered courage and sensationally claimed that the mysterious deaths and illness hitting their family were caused by a baboon skull which was allegedly owned by their mother and brother.
Tempers reportedly flared when the two sisters further claimed that they were introduced to the two’s mystical prized possession by their brother’s wife who was allegedly bragging to them about her husband’s success.
“Alice Magama and her son Ocean are in the middle of a family bizarre feud after some family members accused them of using juju on them to amass wealth and realise good yields from their fields.
“This was after they were found in possession of a baboon skull which they confessed to other family members that it was meant to bring wealth to the family.
“That baboon skull was also believed to be behind a string of mysterious deaths befalling the family for the past years. Some female members are also complaining that they were having sexual intercourse with an invisible creature which they suspected to be that baboon skull.
“Some also claimed that if they tried to resist the mystical creature they would wake up sleeping outside while bleeding profusely from their privates,” said a source that preferred anonymity for fear of reprisals.
The source said the matter which was, however, partly presided by Headman Mukoka is set to be heard before Chief Njelele who confirmed that he received the details and they are yet to finalise the matter at the end of the month.
“I can confirm the issue which is before my court. The matter is being addressed and it will be finalised at the end of the month as there were some issues that we were still trying to understand from the family,” said Chief Njelele.
