A GWERU man learnt a lesson that he has to respect people even when they are in their graves, after he got bashed by his girlfriendas son for removing his fatheras pictures on the wall.
Tapiwa Masimba felt that his father was being disrespected by Knowledge Nongerai when he pulled down his late fatheras pictures on the wall, replacing them with his pictures.
According to Masimbaas aunt identified as Mrs Nyika, Nongerai moved in with Thokozile Mhlanga last year and Masimba had no problem with him staying there.
All hell broke loose when Nongerai tried to replace everything in Masimbaas life by pulling down his fatheras pictures replacing them with his own pictures without discussing the issue with Masimba.
a?We have always admired the relationship that the duo had, they would spend time together and when people try to tease him calling him weak he would tell them that all that mattered to him was her motheras happiness. We were shocked to hear that Masimba bashed her motheras boyfriend and on this one I think he deserved it,a? said Mrs Nyika.
Masimba told B-Metro that Nongerai disrespected his father.
a?Respect is a two-way street, I always treated him like my own father, he came to stay with us in my fatheras house, used my fatheras bedroom but I never complained as I only tried to look out for my motheras happiness. But clearly he has no respect for my late father and now I have no respect for him too.
a?When I asked him why he did that, he told me that there was no point in hanging the pictures as they only cause sorrow to my mother. He said he would rather put his own pictures since he was the one who was making my mother happy. He did not even apologise and told me that I was being archaic and that made me angry,a? said Masimba.
When Nongerai was contacted for a comment he said he never thought a picture could make someone angry to the extent of hitting him.
a?These pictures were always in our room, so I thought of removing them and put mine since I am part of their family but clearly Tapiwa does not regard me as such. He should have told me to take back the pictures a there was no reason to be violent,a? said Nongerai.
Mhlanga did not want to talk much about the incident.
a?I donat have to give anyone an explanation about my life and what happened at my homestead is about me and people who are involved,a? said Tendai before dropping the phone.
