Munhumutapa Challenge Cup action continues in Zifa Southern Region

THE Zifa Southern Region Division One League’s involvement in the Munhumutapa Challenge Cup continues on Wednesday afternoon with three third-round matches scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
With progression to the next stage at stake, teams will be looking to keep their hopes alive in the country’s most lucrative knockout football competition.

At Llewellin Barracks, Imbizo take on Aqua Stars FC in what is expected to be a closely contested encounter. Both sides have impressed to reach this stage and will be eager to edge closer to the latter rounds of the competition.
In Hwange, a big derby is on the cards with Hwange playing to host to Megawatt FC in another intriguing fixture.
The third fixture of the day sees Jordan FC host Nkayi United FC in Filabusi.

The third-round action in the Southern Region will conclude on Thursday when BlackRock face Khami in Hwange.
Launched earlier this year by President Emmerson Mnangagwa, the Munhumutapa Challenge Cup has generated significant excitement throughout Zimbabwean football.

Backed by a US$25 million investment over five years, the competition offers unprecedented rewards for clubs at all levels of the game. The men’s champions will receive US$1 million, while the women’s winners will pocket US$200 000.
In addition to the lucrative prize money, the men’s champions will secure a place in the CAF Confederation Cup, making the competition even more attractive to participating clubs.
