Munodawafa breaks silence

Gospel musician and keyboard wizard, Munyaradzi Munodawafa is now all grown up and his music reflects great maturity.
Most people know him as the young boy from Capota School for the Blind who played the keyboard singing along to the song “Shandisa Chipo Chako.”
It has been more that two decades since then and Munodawafa has made a comeback onto the mainstream gospel arena with a title track from his previous album “Chikwata Chinokunda” competing with other gospel hits on Star Fm’s Sunday show, Gospel Greats.
ln the offing is a 10-track album that is set to be released at the end of this month.
The 27-year-old artiste said he is ready to break his long silence with his new album.
Munodawafa said the forthcoming album is titled “Mwari vachitiitira zvakanaka”.
Years after releasing “Shandisa Chipo Chako”, which was a passionate plea to many physically challenged people to utilise their God-given talents, Munodawafa told The Sunday Mail Religion that he believes his latest offering could be his best to date.
“I believe that the album that I will be launching on March 30 is the best for me so far. My last album – “Chikwata Chinokunda” – did not do well because of poor marketing,” said Munodawafa.
“God is still using me through music, I am still using my music ministry to preach the word of God,” he said.
Munodawafa said his new album will carry tracks that include “Murangarire”, “Areka”, “Zvakatora muchinjikwa” and “Chikwereti” among others, all produced by Diamond Studios.
Last Sunday, “Chikwata chinokunda” was on number four on the Star Fm Gospel Greats after entering the charts late last year.
Born partially blind in 1988, Munodawafa released his first album “Mwari anoona” in 1998 at the age of 10.
The following year, he went to the United States of America and spent several years studying there before returning to Zimbabwe in 2005.
“Farai Munashe” was his second album. However, after that album, he disappeared from the music scene.
His returned to music in 2010 with the album “Zvinouraya”. Sadly, the album did not receive much airplay.
This was followed by “Zvava Nezodzo” (2012) and “Chikwata chinokunda” (2014).
