NOAH Murape, the father to Dynamos skipper Murape Murape, was laid to rest at Warren Hills Cemetery in Harare yesterday. Noah Murape died on Monday at Chitungwiza General Hospital after suffering from prostate cancer. He was 70 and left behind 10 children and 12 grandchildren.
The funeral was attended by several football followers who included Dynamos patron and Minister of Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services, Webster Shamu.
Speaking at the burial, Shamu said he had known the late Noah Murape as a staunch Dynamos supporter who had the team at heart.
“It is a very big loss to both the Murape family and Dynamos as a team. The man was a strong supporter who would attend most of the team’s matches.
“Murape was a strong man who could not show that he was seriously ill and we tried our best as we helped him seek medication at Chitungwiza General Hospital until the time of his death.
“I also thank the Dynamos supporters and founder members who are with us during this time of mourning,” Shamu said.
Tonderai Ndiraya, who played and later on coached Dynamos, also said the untimely death of Noah Murape was a sad loss to both his family and the Harare club.
“We feel hard done by the death of our friend’s father.
“We are with them during these trying times. As former Dynamos players we have lost a father who stood by the team in any situation,” Ndiraya said.
