Two Nyanga men and a woman who allegedly murdered their friend 18 years ago before faking a drowning incident were recently exposed by the late man’s avenging spirit.
The spirit of Armandos Nyamundanda that is threatening to unleash a reign of terror on the families of Steven Dodzo and Naume Saunyama is manifesting on the dead man’s teenage niece, Axilia Zinhema.
The spirit claims that Dodzo, Saunyama and their unidentified colleague allegedly connived and murdered Nyamundanda for ritual purposes.
It is said the trio removed most of their victim’s body parts before staging a drowning incident in Nyamundanda Village 10.
The cat was recently let out of the bag at acting Chief Saunyama’s court.
During the hearing, Nyamundanda’s spirit tabled his demands through Axilia.
As she spoke, Axilia had her eyes closed, with Nyamundanda’s spirit claiming that his eyes were gouged out by his assailants.
Nyamundanda’s spirit explained that sometime in 2004, he was drinking beer with the trio at Nyatate Business Centre until they all got heavily intoxicated.
He claimed that his assailants took advantage of his drunkenness to kill him.
“When people saw my blood, they claimed that they had killed a goat. They said I was a goat and it still hurts me deeply. Dodzo, the goat that you killed behind the door is back and it wants appeasement,” shouted Nyamundanda.
“They killed me to enhance their retail business. Where is the shop now? Is it not true that the Bhandi Shop building at Muzawazi shops is now a toilet for drunkards? Who do you think is behind this?” laughed the spirit.
He further stated that after killing him and harvesting his body parts, the trio kept his remains for two days before throwing them in a nearby river to stage drowning.
“I do not have a child because I had just married when they killed me. It is cold where I am because they dumped my body in a very cold river. They said since my totem was ‘dziva’, it was ideal to dump my remains in the river,” said Nyamundanda’s spirit.
He claimed that after his naked body was thrown into the river, the trio hung his clothes and a towel on a nearby tree to hoodwink his relatives into believing that he drowned while bathing.
Nyamundanda’s body resurfaced a few days later as his relatives were passing by.
His wife, Martha Nyamundanda, said while the family initially believed that he had drowned while bathing, the missing eyes suggested otherwise.
“They killed him, but they still deny that up to now. I was widowed at a very young age. They took him away from me and should be punished. My husband should deal with them ruthlessly until they confess,” said the grieving woman.
However, Saunyama vehemently denied killing Nyamundanda.
“This avenging spirit has been making these accusations for a long time, yet I do not know anything regarding Nyamundanda’s death. This spirit should leave me to lead a peaceful life,” she said.
On the other hand, Dodzo remained mum during the court proceedings.
Acting Chief Saunyama ordered the families to consult traditional healers and spiritualists for the truth to be unveiled.
The matter was adjourned to today (Friday).
